A gay Irish bull destined for the slaughterhouse becouse he wouldn't mate with the cows in the herd has been saved by animal rights campaigners and a donation by a co-creator of the hit TV series The Simpsons. A donation of five thousand pounds by Sam Simon, a cashed-up TV writer and animal rights campaigner, has been added to money raised by animal rights activists. This has enabled the bull to be purchased and taken to an animal sanctuary. "All animals have a dire destiny in the meat trade, but to kill this bull because he's gay would've been a double tragedy," Simon said
