Jack Falahee (left) plays gay law student Connor Walsh How To Get Away With Murder, a series which doesn’t shy away from the sex life of a gay character, has been picked up by TV2. The latest offering from Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes is currently the number one new drama in the US. It stars double Academy Award-nominee Viola Davis as a defence attorney and criminal law professor who teaches her students the dark truth about law. One of her students, Connor Walsh (played by Jack Falahee) is gay, and his sexuality and sex life are a robust part of the show. Some conservative US viewers have been critical of this aspect of the series, prompting Rhimes to respond to one complainer on Twitter "There are no GAY scenes. There are scenes with people in them. If you are suddenly discovering that Shondaland shows have scenes involving people who are gay, you are LATE TO THE PARTY. If u use the phrase "gay scenes", u are not only LATE to the party but also NOT INVITED to the party.” TVNZ’s new season line-up will also include a new season of My Kitchen Rules, which featured gay and lesbian contestants in its inaugural series.
