Ivy accused misses second court date

Wed 12 Nov 2014 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

The man accused of assaulting two people at Wellington gay venue Ivy Bar has been arrested for failing to show up to court, for the second time. Adrian Alf Sherman has pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault over the August incident. The Levin man was due to appear in court last Thursday, but didn’t attend, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Sherman has since been arrested, bailed, and given a new court date of 20 November. There was a similar delay when he failed to appear in court in August. He was arrested after Ivy manager Steven Mawhinney complained a group of men turned violent following an argument with customers that included homophobic slurs, after the group realised they were in a gay bar.
