The SkyTower has previously lit up for Auckland Pride Festival. Picture - Rainbow Tick. Auckland’s SkyTower will be specially lit up tomorrow night to celebrate SkyCity being awarded a Rainbow Tick. SkyCity says the Southern Hemipshere’s tallest man-made structure will “shine with an eye-catching rainbow effect for one night only” to mark the achievement. This week the entertainment and hospitality became the fourth company, after ASB, Simpson Grierson and Coca-Cola, to meet the standard, which measures how diversity is embraced in the workplace. “We recognise the benefits of employing staff who not only bring different skills and perspectives, but who are also genuinely the very best candidate for that role, which is the best outcome for our business,” General Manager of Corporate Services Gràinne Troute said. SkyCity often lights the Tower for charities or community initiatives, and has previously gone rainbow for Auckland Pride Festival.
