Lisa Walton and Lizi Hamer UPDATE: Former New Zealand hockey representative Lisa Walton and her British wife Lizi Hamer have been in touch with family and friends to let them know they are safe and sound. They were feared to be among dozens of people missing after a huge and deadly avalanche near Annapurna killed at least 32 people. They have since made contact with loved ones and explained they were out of reach due to poor signal, a friend says. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade earlier said it did not believe the couple was in the area of Nepal worst-hit by violent storms. Walton, 38, is originally from Christchurch and lives in Singapore with Hamer, 31. She became a Black Stick in 1996 and competed at the 1998 Commonwealth Games and 2004 Olympics.
