Lgbtti New Zealanders are being encouraged to join the Mental Health Foundation’s Wellbeing Game, which it says is a fun and easy way to improve mental health. Registrations are open for the interactive game www.thewellbeinggame.org.nz which had almost 2,000 participants last year. Evaluation found that people who played at least three times boosted their own wellbeing. The initiative helps people introduce the Mental Health Foundation’s Five Ways to Wellbeing into everyday life. People can sign up as teams or individuals and prizes are up for grabs. “We’d love to see lgbtti teams playing The Wellbeing Game,” Foundation Chief Executive Judi Clements says. “Members of our rainbow community can experience higher rates of anxiety and depression, and we hope by playing The Wellbeing Game, people can learn and show by example that there are small things we can all do to increase our wellbeing.” The Wellbeing Game 2014 begins 6 October, to coincide with the start of Mental Health Awareness Week.
