Grant Robertson believes he can unify Labour, as he prepares to take on David Cunliffe for the role of Labour leader. "I couldn't stand by and see the party poll 24% and not put my name forward," he’s told ONE News. "I'm confident of good support in the caucus. I had that last time when I ran and I believe I have it again." Robertson is not saying who he’d prefer to have as deputy. He announced his intention to contest the leadership yesterday, saying "now is our opportunity to revitalise our party and to renew our connection with New Zealanders." He continued "We must be relevant to their lives, hopes and aspirations. We must be part of the communities we wish to serve. We must unify around our values – putting people first, fairness and opportunity. That will be the Party I would seek to serve as Leader."
