There were costumes galore at the closing party Gay Ski Week Queenstown's organisers are in recovery mode after an event which saw an overall increase in new attendees, including more female visitors. Organisers Sally and Mandy Whitewoods say they are "thrilled" with how well everything has gone. "The event’s just gone from strength to strength thanks to absolutely overwhelming support from sponsors and locals and the feedback from those who came this year is that they’ll be back,” Sally Whitewoods says. Around 350 people attended the circus-themed closing party on Saturday night, which featured Sydney DJs Adam Love and Kate Monroe. "Everyone had a great time and it was so colourful with just brilliant costumes including tigers, strongmen and lots of clowns,” Whitewoods says. She and wife Mandy are still recovering from the festivities but are already looking ahead to building on the success of the week. "We’re super excited to start planning the next one, after this year has seen the event’s profile grow and reach even further thanks to the sponsors involved," Sally Whitewoods says. "So many locals have made visitors’ time here incredible, so we’re confident many people will return next year and perhaps extend their visit to enjoy more of our region’s terrific tourist attractions."
