Thu 4 Sep 2014 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

The man accused of assaulting Ivy Bar manager Steven Mawhinney has been re-arrested, and given a new court date. Adrian Alf Wayne Sherman, 23, who lives in Levin, was supposed to appear in Wellington District Court last Friday, but didn’t show. He is charged with assaulting Mawhinney and Shanan Paterson at the gay venue on Friday 22 August. Sherman is now due to appear in court on Monday. Meanwhile Mawhinney has thanked the community for its support, after a ‘Community Hug’ event at the bar last Friday, an overwhelming response online - and flowers he was sent by a stranger.
