Legend staff on Saturday night including Grady Elliott, right Auckland's Legend bar and nightclub may be back in three months' time, according to owner Grady Elliott. The venue held a party on Saturday night before closing its doors to allow work to be done on the building which includes Legend. "At the moment the landlord is doing renovations," Elliott says. An apartment building is being built at the back of the building and earthquake strengthening is also being done. "The bar space will be altered, including being smaller and having a smokers' balcony at the front, and the landlord wants it to remain a gay club," says Elliott. "When it's done we'll have a look at it and if it still suits us we'll move back in, otherwise we'll look for another space." Elliott says several one-off events planned for Legend for the coming months, including a performance by US drag artist Bianca del Rio, will now be held in a "pop up venue" across the road in the Encore space.
