Labour sets sights on bullying, trans rights

Labour is pledging to tackle school bullying and ensure trans people are clearly protected from discrimination - and promises a government it leads would speak out against anti-glbti actions worldwide. It wants to wide it to all government documents.] The party has announced its Rainbow Policy at a function at S provided by drivers' licenses and passports • increase support for health services for transgender and intersex people, including intersex children, with a focus on an informed consent model • support and facilitate the development and delivery of training and resources for health professionals about gender diversity • review funding and access to gender transition procedures, and provide information and resources for communities and individuals about accessing healthcare as a gender diverse person. Promoting Safety and Dignity for all New Zealanders · improve the pastoral support given to GLBTI youth in New Zealand's education system · introduce mandatory anti-bullying reporting requirements to the remit of the Education Review Office, against which schools must report · address our youth mental health crisis. This will include increasing the resources available to supporting youth mental health, and taking an evidence-based approach to policy formation and programme development in the area · reduce discrimination against same-sex couples. Promoting safety and dignity internationally · continue to maintain and grow strong New Zealand participation in international bodies dealing with Human Rights, especially at the United Nations level · support our domestic policy at the international level · oppose the criminalisation of consensual adult same-sex activity, and other instances of discrimination against GLBTI people and identify refugee quotas as a medium to address humanitarian needs of GLBTI global citizens.
