Wallabies assistant coach Andrew Blades will offer his expertise Players and coaches from Super 15 team the Waratahs and a member of the Wallabies coaching staff will lead players from all over the world in a massive training session ahead of the start of play in the Bingham Cup. The ‘gay rugby world cup’ is being hosted by three-time champions the Sydney Convicts, and the tournament has been strongly backed by former and current professional Australian players. On Wednesday morning up to 500 members of Bingham Cup teams, including the New Zealand Falcons, will take part in a huge training session at a Sydney park. It will be led by Waratahs coaches and players and Wallabies assistant coach Andrew Blades. Bingham Cup pool play gets underway on Friday. There are 24 teams competing. The event is one of the largest 15-a-side rugby tournaments in the world. While most participants are gay, in the spirit of being inclusive, many teams have straight players. The Falcons’ first game is against the Manchester Village Spartans at 11AM New Zealand-time on Friday.
