Tue 26 Aug 2014 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

A ‘community hug’ event has been arranged to support the manager of Ivy Bar who is alleged to have been ‘gay bashed’ last Friday. “For legal reasons we can’t give away details of exactly what happened to Steven - but together, as a community, we can show or solidarity against homophobia and violence to human beings in general,” organisers of the event say. It’s being put together by the team running lgbti fair and entertainment day Out in the Park, the former Out in the Square. The ‘community hug’ will be held from 9PM Friday at Ivy Bar, on Cuba St. Details here GayNZ.com Daily News is endeavouring to find out more from police.
