In one of the movies Robin Williams filmed before his death he plays a married man confronting his sexuality. Boulevard premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, but does not have a distribution deal as of now, making it unclear when the film will see a wider release. Williams told US Weekly Boulevard was “a very beautiful and sad movie about this guy who falls in love with a gay prostitute, basically comes out. He’s married, and he has to come out to his wife and he’s not fulfilled on that level. It was powerful to do.” Peter Debruge says in a review for Variety “This is one of the kindest characters Williams has ever played, which makes his self-imposed turmoil — the consequence of not wanting to hurt anyone, least of all his wife — all the more tragic,” Among Williams many memorable characters was gay drag club owner Armand Goldman in The Birdcage, who pretended to be straight in a farce at the centre of the film.
