After a whirlwind two month relationship, two opposing WNBA players are engaged. Phoenix Mercury centre Brittney Griner, 23, who was last year’s top draft pick, has asked Tulsa Shock forward Glory Johnson, 24, to marry her. Griner posted this on her Instagram account with the caption “Last Night was a Night to Remember I became the happiest person on this earth! (almost pass out but when that one word came out I came back to life) Me and my baby @missvol25 are in it for Life!” The women were both in the Western Conference All Star squad, while they played against each other at university. Griner came out publicly after leaving her college, Baylor, where she was told by school officials not to speak about her sexuality in public. She’s since been a vocal lgbti rights advocate.
