Fri 15 Aug 2014 In: International News View at Wayback

Bryan Higgins Life support has been turned off for a gay man found beaten and left for dead in San Francisco's Castro District. Bryan Higgins was found lying in the street on Sunday morning. His life support has since been turned off, and he leaves behind a husband and a family. NBC Bay Area reports the 31-year-old also went by the name Feather Lyn. He was a member of the Radical Faeries, a movement of gay men searching for a spiritual dimension to their sexuality. Police have surveillance video that shows he was beaten. "We do not know what the motive is at this point or if this was a hate-crime motivated type incident," San Francisco Police Officer Albie Esparza says. Police are not releasing CCTV footage which shows a suspect in the attack, who is described as a white man in his 20s or 30s. Friends held a prayer circle in a park as his family removed him from life support at the hospital. "He had a huge impact on the entire LGBTQ community here in San Francisco and the Bay Area, but especially within the radical faeries," friend Justime told NBC.
