The Topp Twins are taking the show on the road once again, announcing a 13-stop national tour. They’ll kick The Grand Ole Topp'ry off in Invercargill on 1 October, and pull in to Dunedin, Oamaru, Timaru, Ashburton, Christchurch, Napier, Hamilton, Auckland, New Plymouth, Wanganui, Wellington and Palmerston North. Lesbian icons Jools and Lynda Topp will pay homage to country music greats and celebrate contemporary Kiwi music, while also throwing in their classic brand of humour. The tour was to happen in 2013, but was postponed, so Lynda Topp could have knee surgery. Special guests will include multi-award-winning country artist Tami Neilson, all-girl Johnny Cash band The Johnnys, X Factor contestant Cam Luxton and guitarist Phil Doublet. Lynda Topp says that just as Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry has changed over the years, like the Topp Twins, it has remained a cultural institution. “Our take on the Grand Ole Opry (Topp’ry) will celebrate country music's diversity and will be a night of rollicking good fun, foot-stomping music to laugh and live by, as well as paying respect to something larger than ourselves.” Full details here
