A number of delegates to Melbourne’s World AIDS conference are now seeking asylum in Australia. The Age reports at least 25 people who attended the gathering didn’t board their flights home last week. It says the men and women are mostly from African countries including Tanzania, Uganda and Ethiopia. They have been put up in motels, backpacker hostels and rooming houses across the city. Those who have spoken to Fairfax say they fear for their safety at home.
