New Zealand cyclist Linda Villumsen is in a relationship with retired English cyclist Emma Trott, who has proudly congratulated her partner on her Commonwealth Games gold medal. Villumsen, 29, is a Danish-born cyclist who became New Zealand citizen in 2009 and began representing the nation in 2010. She picked up her first ever gold medal in the women's time-trial this morning. She's previously won silver or bronze medals at the world championships and a silver four years ago in Delhi, while she finished fourth at the London Olympics. Her partner Emma Trott has tweeted: "I am simply the proudest person right now! @LVillumsen makes me proud every day and I'm very happy to have you as my partner!" Emma Trott spoke about how she is happy to be cheering for a Kiwi on One News: "It doesn't become about country, does it, it's about the person. She could have been, what, flamin' Welsh or Scottish or anyone or whatever, I would have cheered for her. Only if she was Australian, then all of a sudden I'd say 'no sorry, no way," she joked. Trott's father has also joined the congratulations, tweeting: "So I now hv a daughter @LauraTrott31n Daughter in Law @LVillumsenwith gold medals Wooooo". Emma Trott's sister is Laura Trott, another cyclist who won gold in the points race. Villumsen will be in action for New Zealand again in the road race on Sunday.
