Claudette Hauiti has admitted she also misspent taxpayer cash on petrol. She’s held a hurried press conference at Parliament where she was vague on how much she charged to her parliamentary credit card, saying she is “working through exact details” with Parliamentary Services. She was then rushed away by a colleague (see a video from the NZ Herald below). The lesbian National MP announced she was leaving Parliament on Tuesday, after it was revealed she’d used the card for flights to Australia. She was facing a low list ranking ahead of the election. Hauiti has also previously breached Parliamentary rules by employing her own wife in her electorate office.
