Hone Harawira Mana leader Hone Harawira is the latest politician to confirm he’ll attend Rainbow Wellington’s pre-election forum on Tuesday. Callum Valentine from the Internet Party will also attend, and offer some insight on its lgbti policy. Other confirmed party representatives are Chris McKenzie from the Maori Party, Stephen Preston of the Greens and Maryan Street from Labour. Claudette Hauiti was to represent National, however as she is no longer standing at the election another candidate is likely to take her place. There has been no commitment from NZ First, ACT or United Future yet. The candidates will discuss a number of issues, such as transgender law reform, homophobic bullying in schools, adoption, homophobia and transphobia in sport and the disappearance of the Government’s ‘Rainbow Desk’. The 2014 Rainbow Wellington Candidates’ Forum will be held on Tuesday 29th July, at 6pm, at St Andrews on the Terrace, in the upstairs Conference Room of their new offices at the rear of the church.
