Pastor leaves 'gay obsessed' Anglicans

Mon 21 Jul 2014 In: New Zealand Daily News

Another pastor is leaving the Anglican Church over the 'irksome' issue of homosexuality. Reverend Michael Hewat from the West Hamilton Parish has written a letter to the Waikato Times saying the Church is obsessed with homosexuality. He’s refusing to ‘submit’ to the General Synod over its pledge to recognise same-sex relationships, and is giving up his licence to practice as an Anglican pastor. He’s the second pastor to leave and predicts more will follow. Hewat says he’s taking most of his congregation with him. "Unfortunately, the trigger is the whole issue of sexuality which we find rather irksome because it is not on our agenda but it keeps coming up."
