Repair work was quickly underway this morning Eagle Bar will be able to open despite a car slamming into its frontage this morning, and its staff are dealing with the incident with humour. “As most of you will know by now we had an insistent gatecrasher this morning of the vehicular variety,” staff from the Auckland bar have posted to patrons via Facebook. “Thank you everybody for your kind concern. Luckily it being after hours the bar was empty and no one was hurt. “However as you all know we never let a little drama spoil the fun at Eagle Bar and we are open today already. “In our own irreverent style we will be serving up Car Wreck cocktails for $10 all night long. “Come down and have a little nosey and a laugh with us.” The collision around 5AM today ruptured a gas main and smashed in the bar’s front window. Repair work began first thing this morning. A popular Thai restaurant next door to Eagle Bar, Pok Pok, was also damaged.
