Prosecutor struck off over drug conviction

Thu 17 Jul 2014 In: New Zealand Daily News

A former police prosecutor has been struck off after posting videos of his drug use at male sex parties online. Aucklander Brent William Thomson earlier pleaded guilty drug charges and was fined $450. He was charged after anonymous letters were sent to the police minister, the commissioner of police and the Independent Police Conduct Authority. Police then found blogs Thompson had written describing using the drugs at sex parties in April and May 2013. He was seen in videos injecting methamphetamine, once alone and once with another man. The New Zealand Law Society says the 49-year-old’s convictions have brought his profession into disrepute. Its disciplinary tribunal has ordered he be struck from the roll.
