Singapore to destroy gay-themed books

Mon 14 Jul 2014 In: International News View at Wayback

Singapore's National Library Board has pulled two gay-themed books from the state's libraries and plans to destroy them. The government-run board has deemed And Tango Makes Three - based on the true story of two male penguins at Central Park Zoo in New York raising a chick - and The White Swan Express - which included a lesbian couple - as inappropriate for it's citizens. Authoritarian Singapore is one of the 41 states out of 53 in the Commonwealth in which homosexuality is illegal.
