A film tells the true story two gay men fighting to keep custody of a teenager with Down syndrome is about to have a limited release in New Zealand theatres. Any Day Now stars Alan Cumming as a struggling musician and drag performer in West Hollywood, who takes in an abandoned 14-year-old boy whose mother has been arrested. He enlists closeted District Attorney Paul Fleiger, played by Garret Dillahunt, to help fight for the boy’s custody. It will show at Paramount Wellington from 26 June, Rialto Auckland on 3 July, Focal Point Feilding on 3 July and Alice Cinema in Christchurch in early August.
