Sam Johnson Christchurch community leader Sam Johnson has moved up the rankings in an annual poll of the ‘most trusted’ New Zealand public figures. The openly-gay founder of the Canterbury Student Volunteer Army is ranked 17th in the Reader’s Digest survey, up from 22 last time. Johnson has also been a local board representative, and has been supportive of glbti events both in Christchurch, and nationally. A total of 600 people had their say in the poll, ranking 100 Kiwis on how much they’d trust them. The Topp Twins were ranked 47th.
