When asked about the bands, she said the campaign is ‘great’, adding “I hate that kids grow up feeling they are not acceptable because of the [way] they are born. There's no choice in the matter”. The Auckland Council backed, community-driven campaign is all about getting people to wear a wristband to show the rainbow community that they are 100% OK/TINO PAI with people being themselves 100% of the time – and by sharing that stance on social media. The aim is to get 30,000 Aucklanders’ support by July 12, while people from the rest of the country are also welcome to get involved.
