The woman who stole lesbian hearts the world over when she played Xena will guest edit the New Zealand Herald next Friday. The Herald says Lucy Lawless will be in the newsroom on Thursday, directing and guiding the tone and content for the following day's issue. She will lead the daily news conference, where the news, world, sport, business, illustration and digital editors will present their content lists and ideas. Herald editor Shayne Currie said Lawless is special New Zealander, respected here and internationally as an actress and advocate for the environment. The Greenpeace ambassador’s theme for the edition will be 'A Brighter Day'. Though straight, Lawless is a firm lesbian icon with a global following thanks to her starring role in Xena, something she has embraced, and further cemented with a guest appearance on The L Word and through steamy lesbian scenes in Spartacus: Gods of the Arena.
