Her Majesty's Vinegar Hill 2006 Christmas Message

Sun 17 Dec 2006 In: Community

Just overa week from now it will be "Hello Possums!" as I arrive to what will be an action packed 30th anniversary of queer camping at Vinegar Hill. For the uninitiated, Vinegar Hill is a quaint little spot of paradise flanked by a river and native bush five minutes drive from Hooterville (Hunterville), which itself is between Bulls and Taihape. That's right, we've been terrorising small town New Zealand for over a generation now! The facilities are basic (toilet, tap waterand cold showers) so expect to do a little shopping. The days can be warm so expect to do a little drinking. The nights are dark... I've been hearing that there is quite a crop of Vinegar Hill virgins coming this year as well as many of the seasoned regulars so it looks to be a grand occassion. As such I've been planning a host of events to keep idle hands busy, whether its holding a cocktail glass or gripping the sides of a buckingairbed as you race down the river. There are certain to be a few firsts this year, including the return of two of last years virgins who will be tying the knot on Boxing Day. There is bound to be plenty of entertainment with a host of drag kings and queens ready to strut their stuff as well as a chance for amateurs to participate in the best buns, tits andlegs competitions and a bush fashion show. For those who like to keep up with the Jones's there will be prizes for best lighting, decorations, use of technology and best campsite. Miss and Ms hospitality will be awarded to those who just can't say no. Competition was fierce last year so think big, bold and scandalous. With many able to get away on the 23rd expect the camp to fill up early this year. I will be hosting a pot luck dinner onChristmas Day toassist the mingling processand we will build from there. Even if you can only pop in for the New Year's Eve party we would love to see you. Marc Smith Queen of Vinegar Hill     Marc G Smith - 17th December 2006
