Debate continues at Anglican gathering

Tue 13 May 2014 In: New Zealand Daily News

Debate will continue today at the Anglican General Synod on options for blessing and ordaining people in same-sex relationships. Discussions went for longer than their allotted time yesterday. “General Synod wrestled until its dinner break with the questions of same-sex blessing and ordination – and has asked its order paper committee to find a slot in tomorrow’s schedule to resume the debate,” Anglican Taonga reports. Debate is being held ‘in committee’ so no details will be published until e a decision is made. A petition signed by nearly 800 people asking the Church to take steps towards welcoming everyone, including faithful lgbt Anglicans and their friends and families, was made part of the official record yesterday.
