Mon 12 May 2014 In: New Zealand Daily News

Shane Taurima A report has found Shane Taurima and three members of his staff inappropriately used TVNZ resources for Labour Party political purposes. The report finds the wannabe Labour MP and former General Manager of TVNZ’s Māori and Pacific Programmes department “failed to adequately disclose extensive party political activity during his final year with the company”. It found that TVNZ resources were used inappropriately for Labour Party political purposes by Taurima and three members of his staff – none of whom are still employed by TVNZ. However, it did not find any evidence of bias in any TVNZ programming. Taurima, a high-profile gay journalist resigned from TVNZ in February, after revelations TVNZ emails were used to organise a Labour hui in January. Today’s report could impact on his desire to stand for Labour in the Tamaki Makaurau electorate this year.Labour leader David Cunliffe says there are some significant issues the party council will need to address.
