TVNZ's Shane Taurima report on the way

Mon 12 May 2014 In: New Zealand Daily News

Shane Taurima TVNZ will release its report into allegations of political bias, the misuse of resources and conflicts of interest swirling around Shane Taurima, in a few hours. The high-profile gay journalist resigned as General Manager of Maori and Pacific Programmes at TVNZ in February, after revelations TVNZ emails were used to organise a Labour hui in January. He acknowledged some of his actions in supporting Labour may be seen to have crossed the line, for which he apologised. However Taurima categorically denied his political affiliations had any influence on any editorial decision that he made during his time at TVNZ. Taurima has been a member of the Labour Party since he contested the Ikaroa-Rawhiti candidacy in 2013. He wants to run in the Tamaki Makaurau seat at the election - however his chances could depend on the findings of the TVNZ report. TVNZ will release its report around 2.30pm.
