The owners of Auckland’s Urge Bar are reluctantly appealing to the community for help, as the loved venue faces closure. “Urge Bar is facing a very serious threat to its existence as we must pay a huge bill to our landlord or face the possibility of closing our doors,” co-owner Alan Granville says. “We are asking the support of everyone who has come to our little bar over the years to consider coming out this weekend and buying a couple of beers at 490 K Rd, let's get the bar pumping all weekend and through the month of May,” Granville says. “We have tried to support our community over the years, now we need the community to support us.” The men’s bar has been a long-time hub for the bear and leather communities and has run endless community fundraisers throughout its existence.
