Te Papa memorial to feature AIDS Quilt

A block from the AIDS Memorial Quilt New Zealand’s AIDS Memorial Quilt will be on display at a special Candelight Memorial at Te Papa. The Wellington edition of the annual commemoration is being hosted at the national museum on Sunday 18 May. It will be hosted by the quilt’s guardian Michael Bancroft, with Wellington Mayor Celia Wade-Brown and MPs Grant Robertson, Kevin Hague and Claudette Hauiti among the speakers, along with Dame Margaret Sparrow and Body Positive's Bruce Kilmister. The Glamaphones and the WOSOSI Choir will perform, as will takatāpui kapa haka group Tiwhanawhana. Candlelight Memorials will also be held in Hamilton, Auckland and Christchurch. Wellington 2.30pm - Te Papa Te Marae, Level 4, 55 Cable St Hamilton 7pm - Celebrating Age Centre 30 Victoria St Auckland 6pm - St Matthews in the City Cnr Hobson
