Police confirm Sinclair killed in crash

Police have confirmed Kelly Sinclair has been killed in a car crash in the Bay of Plenty. The 25-year-old’s car was found crashed down a bank on State Highway 2 at Whakamarama yesterday. Miss Sinclair was last seen by a friend in Katikati late on Sunday night and was planning to head from there to Tauranga. Early this week she was reported missing by family. Sinclair was well-known on Auckland’s lgbti scene, where she was one of the original “Candy Girls” at former lesbian venue Candy Bar. She shared her civil union story with GayNZ.com in 2010. The original Candy Bar crew. Sinclair became a keen bodybuilder, and began competing in 2012. She had been living back in Waihi Beach before she died. Shocked and heartbroken friends are remembering Sinclair as someone who was widely-loved and touched many hearts with her compassion, caring and passion, and as someone who was taken too soon.
