Tue 8 Apr 2014 In: New Zealand Daily News View at NDHA

File Photo New Zealand has ranked tenth in the world for “tolerance to homosexuals” in a global Social Progress Index. The results from the US-based not-for-profit the Social Progress Imperative, ranks 132 countries based on their social and environmental performance, and shows New Zealand topping the rankings across a wide range of measures. It says 69 per cent of survey respondents answered yes to the question, “Is the city or area where you live a good place or not a good place to live for gay or lesbian people?” The Netherlands came out on top for respecting gay people, followed by Canada and Spain.
