File Photo New Zealand has ranked tenth in the world for “tolerance to homosexuals” in a global Social Progress Index. The results from the US-based not-for-profit the Social Progress Imperative, ranks 132 countries based on their social and environmental performance, and shows New Zealand topping the rankings across a wide range of measures. It says 69 per cent of survey respondents answered yes to the question, “Is the city or area where you live a good place or not a good place to live for gay or lesbian people?” The Netherlands came out on top for respecting gay people, followed by Canada and Spain. The US and Australia are ranked just about New Zealand.
