"Content warning" now pops up for the video. YouTube has slapped an R18 restriction on Love Your Condom’s ‘gay first kiss’ video, while there is no such constraint for the mostly-straight version. The clip from the New Zealand AIDS Foundation’s safe-sex promotion arm has received more than 160,000 hits since it was launched just over a week ago. YouTube has now put a 'content warning' up, saying the video "may be inappropriate for some users". Anyone who wants to watch it now needs to sign in and say they are older than 18. The viral video Love Your Condom (LYC) was inspired by shows a majority of straight strangers making out, but also includes a quick chaste kiss between two men, and two women locking lips. It has no age restriction. LYC’s followers on Facebook have panned the restriction as a double-standard which is “wrong” and “ridiculous”, making comments such as “No way should this be R18. It isn't risqué at all” and “that is completely obvious discrimination”. GayNZ.com Daily News has asked YouTube to clarify why it has been made R18.
