Cardrona flying the rainbow flag Four couples from the US and Australia will be flown to Queenstown and put up in style for Gay Ski Week, as organisers look to raise the profile of the event across the globe. Gay Ski Week returns to Queenstown between 30 August and 6 September. Organisers Sally and Mandy Whitewoods have created four competitions which will run in DNA, Curve, Instinct and LOTL magazines from May till July. The prizes include flights, accommodation, tickets to Gay Ski Week QT events and tourist attractions. The US competitions in Curve and Instinct magazines each include return flights from San Francisco with Air New Zealand as well as Shotover Jet rides, Cardrona Day Passes and tickets to all Gay Ski Week QT events all for two people, plus accommodation at host hotel The Novotel Queenstown Lakeside. The Instinct magazine competition incorporates accommodation at Commonage Villas Queenstown worth more than $6,000. Each of the LOTL and DNA magazine’s Australia competitions include return flights from Sydney with Air New Zealand, accommodation at The Novotel, Shotover Jet rides, Cardrona Day Passes and tickets to all Gay Ski Week QT events all for two people. “It’s fantastic we can offer people in the US and Australia the chance to experience Gay Ski Week QT first hand. The prizes are just phenomenal,” says organiser Sally Whitewoods. “Every year we attract more and more people from a cross section of countries and we’re stoked to be able to grow the event’s profile and reach even further. “This wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Tourism New Zealand, the magazine sponsors and all the other businesses that have helped make the competitions happen. “We’re looking forward to generating some interest and raising the profile of Queenstown across the globe.” Whitewoods and her partner have been running the revamped Gay Ski Week for three years after the original event went under. They are confident it has gained momentum and is firmly established as a must-attend event on the glbti calendar, with locals and visitors alike joining in the festivities.
