World Vision US reverses gay hiring policy

Just days after announcing it will hire employees who are in same-sex marriages, World Vision US has changed its mind and reversed the policy. “The board acknowledged it made a mistake and chose to revert to our long-standing policy requiring sexual abstinence for all single employees and faithfulness within the Biblical covenant of marriage between one man and one woman,” it says. “We are broken-hearted over the pain and confusion we have caused many of our friends, who saw this decision as a reversal of our strong commitment to Biblical authority.” The change of heart came in just two days and was due to outcry from evangelicals and sponsors pulling their cash.
