Tomlin/Fonda reunite for gay-themed sitcom

Thu 20 Mar 2014 In: International News View at Wayback

Former Nine to Five co-stars Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda are reuniting for a new TV series from Netflix, as two foes whose lives are altered dramatically when their husbands fall in love with each other. Deadline says the pair will be the stars of Grace and Frankie. While they are friends in real life, the show will pit them as long-time nemeses, whose lives are turned upside down when their husbands reveal they are in love with each other and plan to get married. “Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin are among the funniest and most formidable actresses ever and it’s an incredible privilege to give them the opportunity to run riot on Netflix,” Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos has told Deadline. “We can’t wait.” In real life, Tomlin recently wed her partner of 42 years, writer Jane Wagner. Netflix has been quickly creating original TV shows after the success of Orange is the New Black.
