File Photo The Ministry of Health has confirmed gender realignment surgeries are back on hold due to the retirement of one of the country’s three specialists. Plastic surgeon Peter Walker is retiring, and four MtF surgeries which were supposed to be carried out this month have been postponed. Surgeries were due to begin again this month, following a hold while improvements were made to the service. The Ministry of Health confirms patients waiting for surgery and their referring clinicians will be told when the surgical team advises the Ministry of "progress or otherwise" in finding a replacement for Walker. Are you on the waiting list? We'd love to hear your story. Email news@gaynz.com
