Kenya: Youth to be bribed to attack gays

Wed 12 Mar 2014 In: International News

The deteriorating situation in Kenya has taken a fresh turn for the worse, with revelations politicians are planning on bribing teens to attack gay people. Gay Star News reports that Kenyan Parliamentary sources have revealed to gay rights activists that some MPs are plotting on how to sway opinion in their favour. There is already a push for the nation to follow Nigeria and Uganda in toughening anti-gay laws, led by MP Irungu Kang’ata. Gay rights activist Denis Nzioka says sources have informed him the homophobic politicians are also strategizing about mobilising youth to “raid gay offices and arrest youths engaging in gayism and lesbianism and hand them to the police”. They will apparently get businesses and houses in return.
