Christchurch Pride opens on Thursday, with a screening of Priscilla Queen of the Desert getting the Garden City into gear for ten days of fun. Running from March 13 to 23, the 2014 edition of Christchurch Pride will have an Art Show at the NZAF offices on Friday night, then separate Bears and Beavers parties on Saturday. Sunday brings a family-friendly Rainbow Carnival at Christchurch Polytech, complete with a BBQ, stalls and face painting, while there will also be walking group activities. On Monday Labour Christchurch Central hopeful Tony Milne will lead a discussion about the current state of lgbti rights in New Zealand, while Tuesday features a Queer Poets night. The ever-popular Gay Bingo will be run by local queer youth group Q-Topia on Wednesday night, while musical The Producers, an HIV 101 Workshop, a 10 Pin Bowling night and a Mystery Bus Trip round out the weekday activities. Christchurch Pride will close an ‘Outrageous’ party at The Bedford on Saturday 22 March, while anyone with leftover energy can join a walking group on the Sunday.
