Colin Craig The man who keeps telling New Zealanders that gay people are abnormal claims his Conservative Party has “gay supporters”. In an interview with Duncan Garner on Radio Live yesterday, Colin Craig claimed he was “very clear and measured” during the marriage equality debate. “We have gay supporters and they know where I stand on this,” he said. “But I do think, and I still do think, that I was right to argue that marriage should remain between a man and a woman.” Craig was being questioned by Garner on why he’s backing away from taking legal action against Green Party co-leader Russel Norman over his comment at the Big Gay Out that Craig believes ‘a gay man’s place is in the closet’. He’s going ahead with legal action over Norman’s assertion he believes women belong in the kitchen. Craig believes being gay is abnormal and a choice, and says he could be gay if he wanted to.
