Colin Craig is pressing ahead towards taking a defamation case against Russel Norman over comments he made at the Big Gay Out. He's not happy the Greens' co-leader won't apologise for saying Craig thinks 'the woman's place is in the kitchen and a gay man's place is in the closet'. "Unfortunately Mr Norman has not seen fit to apologise for his comments against me at the Big Gay Out. His comments were provably untrue, and in my view defamatory," Craig says. That's despite the Conservative Party leader stating repeatedly that he thinks being gay is not normal and lobbying against gay people being able to marry or adopt children. He's asked his lawyer to take the next steps in defamation proceedings. "Furthermore, I have asked my legal team to review comments made by Mr Norman on the TVNZ Breakfast programme this week. Preliminary legal advice is that part of those comments may also be defamatory. Once this assessment is made they may be added to the claim," he says. "I expect to have detailed responses on all the above from my legal team late next week."
