Jamie Mackay A NewstalkZB host has this afternoon complained on air that the Prime Minister was "mincing about" at Auckland's Big Gay Out two weekends ago when he should have been at a rural event. Jamie Mackay, a Southland farmer, broadcaster and Southland Times columnist, hosting The Farming Show, perpetuated the anti-gay slur when he said the PM had called him "a muppet," "just because I questioned him not turning up to the Southern Field Days... instead he was mincing about at the Big Gay Out!" Mackay was the broadcaster involved in Key's infamous and ultimately embarrassing comment on the same show in November 2012 when he giggled about the host "being munted" because he was wearing "a gay red top." At his subsequent BGO appearance Key was dogged by young glbti people ostentatiously sporting red tops. In May of last year the Broadcasting Standards Authority found Mackay had abused his position as a NewstalkZB host by allegedly threatening staff of a Queenstown bar with bad publicity and then broadcasting his grievances
