High-flying Best Float prize announced

Fri 7 Feb 2014 In: New Zealand Daily News

File Photo The winner of the Best Float at the Auckland Pride Parade will win a trip for two to San Francisco. The prize is courtesy of Auckland Pride Festival’s travel partner Hawaiian Airlines, which is also giving away a trip for two to Honolulu to a lucky Pride volunteer. The Best Float prize includes two return airfares to San Francisco, flying Hawaiian Airlines and staying for two nights at the Hotel Rex, situated in a cleverly restored historic building with décor inspired by the San Francisco art and literary salons of the 1920s and 30s. "The winning float will need to stunningly incorporate everything the Auckland Pride Parade is about in 2014," says Parade Director Richard Taki. "This year's theme of TIME, our place in the Pacific, our fabulous Auckland community and, of course, PRIDE!" With the exception of the Auckland Pride Parade's own lead and final floats, all floats entered into the 2014 Parade will be eligible to win. The winner of 'Best Float' will be decided by a panel of judges, including the Auckland Pride Parade's own Head Float Designer Dion Boothby, Ponsonby Business Association General Manager Vivienne Rosenburg and Parade Director Richard Taki.
