Disney Channel gets its first lesbian mums

Wed 29 Jan 2014 In: International News

(Disney Channel) A Disney Channel show has introduced a lesbian couple, a move the network says is about reflecting “themes of diversity and inclusiveness”. The show Good Luck Charlie showed parents setting up a ‘play-date’ for their pre-schooler Charlie with one of his new friends, who has lesbian mothers. "This particular storyline was developed under the consultancy of child development experts and community advisors," a Disney Channel spokesperson told TV Guide in a statement in June. "Like all Disney Channel programming, it was developed to be relevant to kids and families around the world and to reflect themes of diversity and inclusiveness."
