Colin Craig expects to spend another $500,000 on his own party Homophobic political hopeful Colin Craig has pumped another $135,000 into funding his own political party since last October. Information on the Electoral Commission website shows the latest donations were made up of $50,000 in October, $10,000 in November, $30,000 in December and $45,000 last week. They’re on top of more than $1.6 million Craig put into the Conservative Party in May 2012. The man who thinks gay people are abnormal and sexuality is something which is chosen has told the New Zealand Herald he expects the party to spend at least a further $1 million in campaigning for the general election this year – and he will cover half of that amount himself. The Conservatives spent $1.8 million at the last election, more than any other party except National, but had no success at the polls. However this time around National leader John Key has bolstered the party’s chances by saying he’d work with them to stay in power.
